International Association of studying and application of Ilizarov method was founded in Italy in 1982.The first congress of traumatologists- orthopaedists took place in the USA in 1998. The next meetings were held in Italy, Turkey and Japan. Nowadays there are 36 associations in the world. International A.S.A.M.I. includes 30 countries, for example Germany, France, Italy, Japan, the USA and others. The next congress will take place in St. Petersburg in 2008.

Ilizarov method is famous all over the world. The methods of extremity lengthening and height increasing were developed in Kurgan. These methods are very effective and give the opportunity to correct bone and spine deformations.

Transosseous osteosynthesis became the effective method in osseous oncology, maxillo-facial surgery, plastic surgery, neurosurgery and in other branches of medicine. New approaches in treatment of diseases of extremity vessels and consequences of damages in cerebral blood circulation (strokes) are discovered.
