The 5th International Meeting of ASAMI took place in May, 28-30 for the first time in Russia, in St. Petersburg. The organizer of that forum was «RISC «RTO» and the President of ASAMI was Shevtsov V.I. International meeting point was selected by voting of all the Presidents of ASAMI from different countries. More than 500 delegates from 51 countries expressed their opinion that it was the best meeting of the 5 previous ones.

Reports of scientists and doctors of «RISC «RTO» evoke great interest during the discussion of problems and future prospects of the Ilizarov’s method evolution. Novelty of inventions and high level of orthopedists-traumatologists from Kurgan amazed all world-wild medical community. Ilizarov’s method appeared in Kurgan, after all. The results of treatment were so amazing that numerous ASAMI were organized in different countries of the world.

Nowadays, new medical technologies for treatment of traumas and diseases of locomotor system having no analogues in the world are developed and applied in the «RISC «RTO» under the direction of Shevtsov V.I. Fundamental investigations with application of cellular- and nano-technologies are put into practice. New devices with remote control have been developed in the Centre. Delegates visited different sights of St. Petersburg. Performances of opera singers and ballet dancers amazed them greatly.

The results of the Congress were summed up in Konstantinovsky Palace at round-table discussion of the Presidents of ASAMI. They came to conclusion that Russia goes ahead of all in the field of orthopedics and traumatology and Kurgan is the leader. As a result, professor Shevtsov has been elected the President of International ASAMI. The 6th meeting will take place in Brazil in 2011.
