International Association of studying and application of Ilizarov method was founded in Italy in 1982.The first congress of traumatologists- orthopaedists took place in the USA in 1998.

The 5th International Meeting of ASAMI took place in May, 28-30 for the first time in Russia, in St. Petersburg. The organizer of that forum was ĞRISC ĞRTOğ and the President of ASAMI was Shevtsov V.I. International meeting point was selected by voting of all the Presidents of ASAMI from different countries. More than 500 delegates from 51 countries expressed their opinion that it was the best meeting of the 5 previous ones.
